New Laser for Bax Metaal!
In April, we gave our laser department a significant upgrade. This time, it was our five-year-old 4m x 2m laser’s turn. Due to the many new features that have entered the market, we decided to exchange our laser for a newer model—and we didn’t stop there. The loading and unloading system has also been completely renewed. This allows us to handle the sheets with even greater precision and care, which significantly benefits the surface finish of the material.
The new laser utilizes a 12kW fiber source, enabling us to cut sheets up to 30mm thick. Thanks to this high power, we can cut stainless steel even faster and with a superior finish. A notable new feature is the ability to cut with mixed gas. While thicker plates typically develop a thick oxide layer that must be removed before painting or coating, we now achieve a clean, stable cut edge that does not necessarily require removal. This is an excellent solution, especially for carbon steel machinery construction!
We have also invested in a new tapping table. This machine can accommodate workpieces up to 3000 x 1500 mm that require pre-processing, such as tapping, countersinking, and reaming. Because the machine features multiple tools and operates with extreme precision, it can effortlessly handle long programs with high hole counts. This not only guarantees consistent quality but also ensures the quantity of holes is achieved, as the “robot” systematically completes its programmed cycle.
For the tech enthusiasts among us: the machine includes a torque monitoring function that measures resistance. This allows it to detect when a tool is becoming dull, enabling us to prevent broken taps before they occur!
